Hermitage of Santa Lucía and San Benito

Undoubtedly, one of the most emblematic places in our area is the Hermitage of Santa Lucia and Benito, dating from the seventeenth century and still retaining virtually all its original structure and design.

Sierra de Irta Natural Park

A place where vegetation and fauna are shown in all its splendor. The Natural Park of the Sierra de Irta is one of the few natural mountain ranges that still remains unbuilt on the Valencian coast. A place of more than 500 meters high and more than 7000 hectares of land full of beauty and cultural wealth.
Discover the Sierra de Irta through its routes and know all the wonders that this spectacular natural park hides.

Columbretes Islands

Columbretes Islands are very close to Alcossebre. They are considered, for many, the best kept secret in the Mediterranean. A solitary and mystery-filled islands inhabited, only and temporarily, by researchers and technicians of the reserve.
These islands constitute one of the most important Protected Natural Parks of the Valencian Community. They are formed by 4 groups of islands of volcanic origin: Grossa, Ferrera,
Foradada and Carallot. An archipelago of crystalline waters and beautiful places to discover a multitude of terrestrial and marine species that endow the islands with even more beauty.

Other nearby places

Peñíscola

One of the most important municipalities in the province. It is located in the north of the Valencian Community and on the Mediterranean coast. In the old town, you can find a 14 th century castle, which was the house of Pope Benedict XIII. The most modern part of the town is where the most tourist area is located. In the hottest months, beaches and coves with fine sand are the best option.

Torrenostra (Torreblanca)

Another of the coastal towns closest to Alcossebre is Torreblanca, a municipality located in the Plana Alta region. We can find in it one of the many beaches with Blue Flag that has the province of Castellón, Torrenostra. It has a promenade, parking and handicapped access areas, as well as a marked area for boat departure.

Ruta vía verde (Benicassim/Oropesa)

Between Benicassim and Oropesa there is a route called “Vía Verde” (scenic route) in which, on the one hand, you can see the coast and, on the other, the mountains. The route is 5’5 km one way and 5’5km back and is a suitable way to go on foot or by bike. Throughout the tour you can find covered areas (tunnels), although most of the route is an open area where you can appreciate the views and enjoy the magnificent Mediterranean climate.

Natural Park Desert of the Palms

It is located in the southwest area of the province and it is a mountain range parallel to the coast of Castellón. Its name is due, on the one hand, to the term used by the barefoot Carmelites to refer to those places far from the population in which to go away, which is why we can find monuments that still remain from that time. And, on the other hand, the second part of the name is due to the abundant population of fan palms. A site with a lot of history.
